Meet Our Doctors - Meet Dr. Jay Oltjen
| Growing up on a farm in Everest, Kansas, Dr. Oltjen quickly learned the value of hard work, and came to appreciate the rewards of a job well done. Throughout his life, Dr. Oltjen has learned many valuable lessons about hard work and value, and as an orthodontist, he relies on his training and experience in order to offer his patients the most well rounded, high quality orthodontic care possible. Dr. Oltjen graduated from Kansas State University, and soon after attended dental school at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He then earned his orthodontic degree along with a Master's in Science from the University of Oklahoma. The value of a good education is very important to Dr. Oltjen. He worked to be the best student he could be, graduating fourth in his dental school class and first in his orthodontic class. Today, he works just as hard achieving excellent orthodontic results for his patients and is involved in several professional clubs and organizations offering opportunities for continued education. Dr. Oltjen is the orthodontic advisor to The Great Plains Study Club, a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). Getting to know all of his wonderful patients and their families is one of Dr. Oltjen's favorite parts of being an orthodontist, and he is flattered to be treating second and third generations of patients. Over the last 15 years, Dr. Oltjen has share many special friendships with his patients, and hundreds of happy smiles! Building relationships with patients and turning out incredible smiles is the most rewarding part of his day.
Although Leawood is much different from the farm he once lived on in Everest, Dr. Oltjen still enjoys being a part of this wonderful community. Dr. Oltjen's wife, Rita, and their three children keep him very busy; however, he still finds time to enjoy golf, hunting, sport fishing and travel whenever he's away from the practice!Other Memberships and Affiliations |
